| V alley County is located in the mountainous region of Western Central Idaho. The area is recreational in nature with Payette Lake, Cascade Reservoir, timbered mountain terrain and nearby Nordic and Alpine skiing. Donnelly and McCall have become a major resort destination with two nearby ski resorts (Tamarack Resort and Brundage Mountain), 2 lakes (Payette Lake and Lake Cascade), 11 golf courses and the over 1million acres of unspoiled land in the Frank Church Wilderness area.
Real Estate sales have been very active since 2004, due to the rapidly developing Tamarack Resort on the west side of Lake Cascade. This development is a major addition to the employment base and tourism industry for the area. This has caused a huge increase in the amount of real estate activity and some significant price and value increases in the past several years. During this time the surrounding real estate market nearly sold out of inventory of existing homes.
A recent study contracted by Valley County found the following price increases from 2003 to 2006: McCall 192%, Donnelly 148%, Cascade 138%. In the last 3 years, the natural recreation benefits and laid back lifestyle of the area have been discovered and the rate of growth has steadily accelerated.
